Not meant to be a sob story it's true life, my life.

My Story (the condensed version)

I was always a illness prone child, I had Spinal Meningitis at the age of 4 months, and at 14 months, Transient Erythroblastopenia of Childhood, which in my case presented itself in a similar fashion as Leukemia. I recovered fully from both with no lasting side effects, but I continued to be illness prone through out the rest of my childhood and in my early teenage years I was involved in a very bad car accident that would prove to change my life in every way forever. It was August 10, 2001 and we were on our way back to Tennessee after having picked up my nana. It started raining harder than I’ve ever seen in my life, and harder than I probably ever will see again. Our car started to hydroplane and my mom lost control we crossed the two lane highway 4 times bouncing off guard rails before the car split in half leaving me on the right highway lane and my mom and nana on the left. I remember the whole thing, the car lifted up my mom screamed the car rushed across the lanes split in half and my part twisted and turned in the air finally leaving me hung by the lap seat belt with half of a car lying on my back. I remember my nana running to me and asking me if I knew who she was I did and I begged her to help me somehow. The next thing I knew a sheriff deputy was comforting me telling me the ambulance would arrive soon. I lay there in agony until the EMTS arrived at the scene, they cut the belt got the car of my back and lifted me into the ambulance. Little did I know I was lucky to be alive. I had nearly been cut in half, my spinal cord severed, my back broken and pulled 6 inches apart, my aorta severed, my colon mangled, and more I can’t even remember. We arrived at the hospital sometime later and I was rushed into the ER and they asked me my information, of which I gave them. That was the last thing I remembered for 3 ½ months (well I woke up off and on but I didn’t know or remember it) I awoke to a hospital room with a trachea, a GI tube down my nose, and no ability to speak. My mom was notified I was conscious and they allowed her into the ICU for an unscheduled visit. She began to explain what had happened to me she informed me the doctors didn’t think I would live 5 minutes after being brought to the hospital let alone from then on. I was the doctor’s miracle child, the first documented case of someone being picked up off the ground alive, much less living on. Thank God and my doctors, without them I would not be alive writing this. Since the wreck I’ve had my share of health problems, many surgeries, and both of my legs amputated above the knee. I’m a better person for my experiences and have learned to truly value life and what is really important.

2005-06-03 [Kileaiya]: Yeah I had a pretty rough time of it. The wreck itself was the most terrifying thing I could ever immagine, it was wierd that I was fully concious throughout the whole thing
